Delphi Brown Bread
Ingredients:
1 kg plain flour
775 gr. wholemeal flour (coarse)
90 gr. wheat germ
100 gr.wheat bran
90 gr. porridge oats
10 gr. salt
50gr. brown sugar
1 tblsp. bread soda
1/2 tblsp. baking powder
1.5 litres buttermilk
sesame seeds ( to coat top of bread)
Method:
Pre-heat oven to 160oC.
This mixture makes two 12inch loaf tins
Sieve plain flour and salt into a large bowl. Add the rest of the dry ingredients and mix well.
Make a well in the centre and pour in buttermilk, mixing from the centre out.
Grease loaf tins.
Divide mixture into loaf tins and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
Bake in oven for 1 hour.
When baked remove from tins, wrap with a tea towel and place on a cooling rack.
Delphi Banana Bread
225g Caster Sugar
110g Butter
Cream until fluffy:
Add:
2 eggs
4 mashed bananas
1 tsp vanilla essence
85ml buttermilk
Sieve into bowl:
285g flour
1/3 tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
1/3 tsp baking powder
Fold into mix and place into a tin.
Bake at 160 C for 60 minutes
